Do I have to begin my 40 days right away?
Everything you do within this challenge is up to you. From experience, we’ve found that when people are presented with the opportunity to grow closer to God, if they are a Child of God*, then they will feel convicted by the Holy Spirit to take those steps to head in a direction that will bring them more in line with the Father’s Will.
However, what we also find is that the flesh is weak. It’s easier to put off a change until tomorrow, until the beginning of next week or next month. When this happens, the likelihood of change decreases day by day.
Our recommendation is to begin the challenge today.
Can I take a break?
We know that life happens. Work trips, mid-term exams, family drama, sickness, vacations. All of this has the potential to pull you away from time spent with God.
One of the first activities within this experience is to set aside time in your day to seek God and spend time in prayer and in the Bible. We can pretty much guarantee you that things are going to come up. Life is going to get in the way. But the forty day commitment is just that: a commitment. We don’t recommend taking a break, but more than that, we want you to continue onward on your journey whether it takes you forty days or eighty. Some of the challenges within this experience will be difficult. You might want to reflect on those days. This is all up to you. Our goal is to help you re-focus your life on Christ. We’ll give you layout and leave the timetable up to you.
Who will know I’m taking this challenge?
In the beginning, only the people you share this with will know that you are participating. Once you journey onward through the phases of the Forty Days of Faithful Challenge, those around you may notice a change. It might be a change in your routine, your attitude, your words, your music, or your entertainment. Our prayer is that by the end of the challenge you are such a reflection of Christ that those around you can’t help but notice. More than that, we pray you will share with others the hope that is in you.
What if my spouse won’t go for this?
We don’t recommend pressuring anyone into participating. Our suggestion would be to go to God in prayer and be patient in receiving a response. Follow the challenge wholeheartedly and be a kind, loving, and patient example of the changes you would like to see in your spouse.
*What do you mean by Child of God?
When God sent Jesus to earth to die for our sins, we became more to Him than people on the earth. Once we accept Jesus into our hearts by believing in Him and letting His blood wash us clean from sin, we become children of God. We are adopted into His family. We become sons and daughters of the King.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
You say I may need to change my radio stations and television shows… That’s not really a requirement, is it?
This challenge has no “requirements”. We rely on God through the work and conviction of the Holy Spirit to show you what changes need to be made in your life. After all, we don’t know you nor do we know where you are on your walk with Christ.
We direct you to dig into the truths of the scripture. We ask you to set aside time to pray. Our prayer is that you seek Him in all of these decisions.
